Album Review : AMUL9 – Elevated Beings

Posted in Music with tags , , , , , , , , on September 29, 2010 by Rnowak

I first became aware of AMUL9 from my good Friend and mastermind of Latex Records Eddie Minzenmayer. After hearing a few tracks off the band’s Myspace page I wanted to hear more from them( and that’s a pretty good thing coming from someone who’s not too huge into the punk rock music scene). It was shortly thereafter Latex Records sent me a press copy of the soon to be released album Elevated Beings for me to review for all of you guys here.

After listening to Elevated Beings in it’s entirety  it became clear to me that AMUL9 offered more then just their punk rock style but they also fell into  that music with a message category. Now by music with a message  I mean it’s that type of speak up/out about something you stand for or believe in message ( a very good example of this would be like  Rage Against The Machine).  It’s messages such as racism, peace and  strengthening ourselves  AMUL9 coveys to the listener in each tracks.  Which I must say that they did an excellent job at getting the messages across with each track.  It wasn’t like it required super deep thought to get the point across (like some bands and artists do when they emulate this style). At the same time though it wasn’t like it didn’t require no thought at all. It really was the happy medium. Of which I’m not to sure about you guys but if more were to get this happy medium down I think I would open my music library to include more similar artists/bands.

Elevated Beings really was a refreshing listening experience (not that I ever get sick of my normal style of music but it’s good to mix things up a bit every now and then). This being AMUL9 ‘s first album release I can say that I for one will be looking forward to checking out future releases from them.

If you guys would like  more info on AMUL9 do check out their website over here. You will be able to find a short biography of the band, a lyrics section, tour dates, album release dates and a behind the scenes video with AMUL9. Which I highly recommend that you do watch as you will get a much deeper feel for the band and the music they have to offer.  I would like to thank Eddie Minzenmayer ( Latex Records) for giving me such an opportunity to hear some pretty great music! For more information on other Latex Records releases you can visit the Latex Records site over here.

please do note that no album artwork was available at this time. When such artwork does become available post will be updated.

Album Review : Container ‘s NEO

The Before EP (for you new comers to the site you can check out the review of that EP here) was my first listening experience of Container. The EP had left me wanting to hear more from them. So when Latex Records offered me the chance to have an early listen to Container’s upcoming full length album NEO I was all over it! After listening to the album I came to the conclusion that while I really did enjoy the Before EP however NEO really was a much better showcase of what this band is truly capable of!

I must say that one of my biggest enjoyment factors of NEO was the refreshingly unique sound that the band emulated. It’s a very different “all on it’s own” sound then what I’m normally used to listening to. The tracks off of NEO offer a pretty wide scope of  different music styles( i.e.  Darkwave, Goth and Alternative) all while still keeping that same unique sound. With that wide range of styles I have to say that the album is put together very well. You don’t come across that your just getting into the mellow sound feeling then your hit with a track of  a little more harder beat.

Overall this album was a highly enjoyable listening experience and in my opinion is very much worth checking out when it’s released .  In the meantime (to tide you over) if you haven’t downloaded the Before EP yet  you hop over to Container’s website here and do so ( It’s free). For the most up to date information on when NEO will be available for your listening pleasure you can visit Containers website here, Become a fan of theirs on Facebook or you can visit Latex Records here .

Spotlight On Latex Records and The Latex Radio Podcast

Posted in Music Spotlight with tags , , , , , , on August 10, 2010 by Rnowak

Everyone has something their passionate about! It’s one of the reasons why I started this site.  I wanted a place where I could share things I was passionate about and things that interested me with anyone who would listen( or read in this case). It’s by sharing these passions and interests not only do we encounter like minded individuals but we are opening up a whole new world for some people to enjoy what we enjoy on a daily basis.

This brings me to why I’m writing this spotlight on Latex Records and The Latex Radio Podcast. I first encountered Latex Records over the interwebs via Twitter. After talking with  Latex Records owner Edwin Minzenmayer on Twitter ( of which we have had numerous conversations) and scoping out the Latex Records Site it was at that point I could tell Edwin was very passionate and very opinionated about music and the music industry! Of which when one gets very passionate about an  interests of theirs  I feel ( I’m not sure about you guys) very  hyped myself! So I thought I would Share that hype with all of you and give a shout out to Latex Records and The Latex Radio Podacst!

So first off I’m sure most of you are wondering  what exactly is Latex Records? Well I would love to answer that question for you guys but I think it would be best if you guys were to get the lowdown from Edwin himself by visiting the about us page here!  It’s an extremely well written about us section ( Something you don’t see a lot of when you click into an about us section. Most of them sound stiff and wooden with no life at all. However this one was written just full of life!) and  it’s something I don’t think  I would do justice to if I were to just summarize it for you guys.

While your at The Latex Records website do check out the services Latex Records offer,  The Artists that have worked and or still work with the label( such as Container of which I reviewed their Before EP last week and that can be found here), The Latex Records Amazon Store( please support music  and buy don’t download illegally) , A forum  filled with well written reviews , News, Events  and  not to mention the other half to this spotlight The Latex Radio Podcast!

The Latex Radio Podcast is a podcast show that is done up by Edwin Minzenmayer  (now in partnership with  EBM Radio and Dark Horizons Radio) that features music from the Industrial, EBM, Goth, Darkwave, Electronica, Trance and many more genres( of which I’m sure most of my readers musical tastes falls in to at least one of these categories). I had the pleasure of tuning in to the latest episode of the podcast last week and I really enjoyed the hell out of it. It was that enjoyment factor that caused me to go back and tracked down some older episodes to please my ears( and wasn’t let down! I loved the Halloween one)! If you guys are interested in checking it out ( Of which I highly recommend that you do) you can visit the Latex Radio Podcast site here ( Of which will be added to the links section as soon as this spotlight is done) for all the details on how you guys can tune in!

I would like to Thank Edwin for allowing me to do this spotlight up on Latex Records and The Latex Radio Podcast and taking the time to answer any question I had while writing this spotlight!  For all you Twitter users out there you can follow Latex Records @latexrecords of which I highly recommend that you do as Edwin is a very cool dude to follow and it’s truly never a dull twitter moment moment when your following him. If your a Facebook user you also can become a fan of Latex Records here.

Music Review : Container – Before EP

Posted in Album Reviews with tags , , , , , , on July 29, 2010 by Rnowak

I came across Container after seeing a tweet from Latex Records mentioning them and that their first EP Before was available as a free download. Curious I headed over to the bands website to check it out and after listening to it  I was definitely digging the music ! If this is any indication of what is to come off their forth coming full length album NEO then consider me sold.

(Image taken form the bands website)

The  Before EP consists of two tracks: Before and  Before Ghost House remix by Del Gibbons. The beats on both the tracks are very decent( which is odd for me because usually I will tend to favor one version over the other) and had me hooked enough to share this with all of you! I’m quite curious now to hear more from them and see what musical journey this band can take my ears on.

Of course when I post my album reviews I try to scour Youtube for videos of the songs so you guys can have a listen for yourself(as It’s one thing for me to tell you guys what I think but you guys should have experience for yourselves as well). Sometimes I’m in luck sometimes I’m SOL. In this case I was very much In luck so here have a listen:

If you guys Like what you just heard you can head over the bands official  website and download the EP for free here. If you guys want to know more about Container you can check out their Facebook page here for the latest news and updates from the band!
